<lj:music>Blackalicious - Deception</lj:music>

We had our first date last night. We went to a small Japanese restaurant on Davie to share tea and assorted delicacies from the land of the rising sun.

She asked about my family. I asked about her decision to come to Canada. She laughed at my jokes. I lost myself in her eyes.

We shared her umbrella as I walked her home.

I asked if we were going to see each other again. She thinks I'm funny. She thinks I'm nice. She likes my quirks, and the way I dance, but she's not ready to start a new relationship right now.

We hugged.

I walked home in the rain, alone.

<lj:music>Becoming Insane (Album Mix) by Infected Mushroom</lj:music>

Hello Internets, it's been a while.

If you asked me to choose one thing that I absolutely cannot live without it would probably be food (or water, or air, or sleep). However, if I were allowed to choose something that is not a necessity it would most likely be dancing and/or martial arts. Luckily I have been training in Capoeira 3 times a week for the last 2 months, which satisfies both.

In that vein, this previous Saturday night was "Tropical Fever" at the ANZA club on 8th and Ontario. It was a fun filled evening of Capoeira, Samba, Reggae and a multitude of other things that make you want to shake your booty. Photographic images of the event can be found right there.

In addition, although I feel slightly weird saying this at 27, I have a crush on someone and it makes me feel pretty giddy (like a school girl). Yes she's in the pictures from Saturday night (you get 3 guesses) and yes it's mutual.

Finally, for those who appreciate psy-trance (from Israel no less!) go download the new single from Infected Mushroom, it is glorious.

That is all, continue on your way.

    <lj:music>Rx - Sunday Bloody Sunday (featuring George W Bush)</lj:music>

After more than two months without alcohol I fell off the wagon slightly tonight.

Tonight Tim and I went for dinner at Earl's. Earl's is a chain restaurant known for it's classy atmosphere and attractive, young, male and female servers. This evening Earl's lived up to it's reputation.

Our server tonight was Tanya, a gorgeous young blonde that I've known on and off for about 8 or 9 years. After bringing us our drinks and taking our order she wanted to catch up with me, so she sat down with us for a minute or two and asked me to tell her a story.

Tanya had made a comment earlier about recognizing Tim, but she couldn't quite place his face, so I decided to tell her a story about how the two of us met.

It was three years ago, and we both happened to be in Las Vegas, both of us on business. I was there for an electronics show and Tim was there for a conference on the environmental impact of man made chemical compounds, in particular artificial resins.

Tim works primarily as an adviser for the Canadian government. He studies the waste produced as a by-product of the chemical process used to create the resins, as well as the effects they have on the local environment and the water table as the break down over time. He's worked with David Suzuki several times over the last few years and has even assisted with David's presentations once or twice.

A couple months ago the local newspaper and television station both did a piece on Tim; it's pretty surprising that someone so renowned lives in the sleepy little town of Kamloops. Which is probably why Tanya recognized him, but I digress.

Three years previous Tim and I were both in Las Vegas on business, and just happened to be staying in the same hotel. My second night there I couldn't sleep, so I stumbled down to the hotel bar to get a drink. Tim and I ran into each other in the elevator, and after realizing we were both from the same small town in British Columbia decided to get drunk together. Most of the night after that is still a blur, but when I woke up in the morning I was laying in bed beside Tim, naked, and there was a marriage license on the night stand.

At this point in the story Tim's uncontrollable laughter caused me to admit I made the entire thing up on the spot.

Tim and I met in my first year of college back in 1997, and after discovering a shared love of video games have been friends ever since.

Tanya proceeded to tell the entire wait staff and every table within 30 feet that we got drunk in Las Vegas and got married. As a sign of celebration Tanya and the other servers bought us each a shot, a jellyfish I believe it was called, and not wanting to appear rude I consumed it without complaint.

I feel slightly bad about the alcohol, considering my dedication to buddhism and my comments on waiterrant last night, but I suppose it's justified.

I've mentioned before that I love to dance (I've been told I'm slightly good at it too), R also thoroughly enjoys dancing and since her boyfriend hates dancing (and going out in general) she usually takes me.

On Friday night I went out drinking and dancing with R for her birthday. I ended up doing a little too much of the drinking and not quite enough of the dancing. J was also with us and he's been down in the dumps recently (woman related, what else?) so I convinced R to spend most of the night dancing with him.

Saturday night I was invited to a BBQ and I gladly accepted (fat kids never turn down free food). I had a couple of beers but I stopped there since the experience of the previous night had left me a little gun shy, which was probably for the best. After a rousing game of Pictionary, in which the opposing team never even got a chance to take a turn, the consensus was to once again go out drinking and dancing. When we arrived I had one more beverage and then promptly cut myself off. In short order we were out on the dance floor, there were six or seven of us all dancing together. One by one people started peeling off from the group to go get drinks or see other people and eventually I was left alone on the dance floor with K. K is a very attractive woman, and is reasonably nice, but is usually quite reserved. Saturday night was the first night I've ever danced with her.

That woman can dance.

I feel I need to say that again so that you get the full emphasis of what I'm saying.

That woman can dance.

I'm not sure what song was playing, I wasn't really paying attention. We started in close, nothing too racey, just your average booty shaking. A little bit of space opened up and we backed off from each other. Eventually the people around us ended up clearing about 6 or 7 feet of space in a circle and then we went crazy. We danced around each other, we'd pull in close, move apart, she'd spin, I'd pretend to ignore her, we'd give each other the 'you frontin on me' look, hell I don't even know how to describe half the stuff we were doing but we tore that shit up. Then I grabbed her, pulled her in close and we did proceed to bump and we did proceed to grind. We locked eyes, faces so close we could feel each others frantic breathing, the heat and moisture of our skin. When our noses brushed together we both slightly opened our lips, the anticipation was palpable, the eyes of everyone in the room were on us, and then, with perfect timing, we both broke away at the same instant and she spun away from me as we continued to dance.

It was like a scene from a shitty, rushed through production, summer release movie about how dancing is the only thing keeping a group of inner city youth from descending into a life of crime.

It was the best I've felt in a long time. I hope everyone else had as fantastic a weekend.

Or maybe batman.

Apparently I am extremely good at disappearing without anyone noticing.

After work Shaun wanted to go to the Casino with my winnings. I obliged. You see, I've played a lot of blackjack. A lot. Shaun has not, but I try to guide him when he asks me for my advice.

I made another $45 while Shaun lost about $120. I guess I'm not that good of a guide. We left the casino around 5:30 and I decided to go buy a new pair of shoes (pictured at an uncalculated diagonal angle from here).

From there the flow chart for last nights events looks something like this:

-->home-->strippers-->gin-->curling re-runs-->gin-->nightclub-->an indeterminate amount of gin-->dancing-->an indeterminate amount of shots-->dancing-->disappear while no one is watching-->walk 1 block to casino-->make $70 in 10 minutes-->back to nightclub-->run into The Ex-->leave nightclub

When I ran into The Ex, she said she had nothing to say to me, pulled a 180 and walked away. However, after I left she was apparently looking all over the bar for me so that we could talk. (right now I am making a little twirly motion with my index finger around my temple and making the HOO-HOO noise).

So in total I was up $265 yesterday.

Today I am going to go to the gym and make my biceps wish they had never been born.
